The 21st Century JFK

The Democrats still, to this day, revere John F. Kennedy as a great president, and he was probably the greatest to ever come from the Democratic party. However, the liberal Democrats of today resemble nothing like JFK.

Liberals will quote and reference JFK at the drop of a hat, but they do not toe the party line of what he believed and preached. JFK was closer to a modern day conservative than a hormonally-enraged teenage boy dancing with his date at the high school dance.

As the cartoon states, modern liberals yearn for a government that coddles its citizens from cradle to grave. They fear individuality. Ted Kennedy, the late JFK's brother, said, in early 2002 after the Super Bowl, "We are in a war against the individual." Do you hear that rumbling sound? That's his brother rolling in his grave.

Why is the concept of the individual so terrifying to liberals? Because individuals do not accept the idea of class status. They believe that each is responsilble for their own destiny. They are self-reliant. They do not need Uncle Sam's overbearing masterdom. In general, they do not need government in their lives, except for protections against enemies foreign and domestic. They most certianly do not need the government's social programs, and that scares liberals and politicians. It scares them because it means they are not needed, and if the ball keeps rolling, they could be out of a job.

So what is the answer for the politicians? Make sure that the subjects of the United States have a need for government.

That's where class envy comes in. The government knows – everyone knows – that there are a lot more non-wealthy people than there are wealthy in this country. People, all people, would not turn down the opportunity to have wealth; it's human nature. After all, if you have wealth, then you can buy whatever you want. Life would be good, not having to worry about where your next meal is coming from, paying bills, etc.

Then there is a small segment of our population that has achieved wealth, and of course one's success will naturally breed envy from one or more who have not succeeded. That's where politicians come in.

Politicians ensure themselves a job – not to mention power – by telling the envying class that if they just vote for him, then he will take money from the rich and give it to them. In essence, he will play Robin Hood. Which leads me to the goal of Ragnar Danneskjöld in the scarily prophetic book, "Atlas Shrugged": to keep harassing and stealing (his and his associates' money that was confiscated by the government) from the government through his piracy on the seas, until the memory of one man was wiped from the face of the Earth. That man was Robin Hood.

John F.Kennedy, according to his inaugural speech, did not approve of the concept of stealing from the rich to give to the poor. And it is a crying shame that his party has strayed so far from the beliefs of the man they so romanticize. The politicians who believe in government giveaways must be stopped before Atlas will be forced to shrug.
